I am a fully qualified British Sign Language/English interpreter, living in Essex and working locally, as well as in London. I am registered with the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People (NRCPD) and am also a full member of ASLI, the Association of Sign Language Interpreters. I hold professional indemnity insurance and an up to date enhanced DBS check.
I have previous in-house experience interpreting within educational settings at City Lit. I spent five years in this domain before branching out into other areas. I have also worked as a member of staff for Sign Video; a video relay service which provides interpreter access to Deaf people via web based technology.
I have previously sat on ASLI’s Board of Directors, as well as undertaking voluntary work for ASLI at a regional level. I am still an active member of the association.
I currently hold two degree level qualifications – I was awarded my post-graduate diploma in BSL/ English Interpreting from the University of Central Lancashire in 2011. Prior to this I studied Social Anthropology at the University of Wales, Lampeter; leaving with a 2:1 (Hons).
